Yes, you can increase your coverage limits — but any changes must be made before the first day of classes for the covered term. Once the term begins, coverage amounts are locked in and cannot be adjusted.
How to increase your coverage limits
If you've already purchased a plan and want to increase your coverage amount, the process is:
- Cancel your existing plan — plans may be canceled and refunded in full prior to the first day of classes, as long as no claim has been initiated
- Re-enroll with the higher coverage limit — start a new quote at gradguard.com/tuition/enroll and select the coverage amount you need
- Complete your new purchase before the first day of classes
You can also call us at 877-794-6603 and a member of our team can walk you through the process.
What coverage limits are available?
Coverage options vary by school. When you get a quote, you'll see the available coverage tiers for your specific institution. Coverage amounts are typically based on the tuition and fees charged for the term.
What if I underestimated my tuition costs?
If your actual tuition, fees, or housing costs are higher than the coverage limit you selected, you will only be reimbursed up to the amount of your plan. It's worth reviewing your school billing statement carefully before purchasing to make sure your coverage amount reflects your full non-refundable costs for the term.
